Here're some new features available since the release of Sakai 10. They are broken down by individual tool for easier navigation.
Overview
- New tools: Assignments 2, Certificate, and Piazza are newly added into Claremont Sakai 10.
- Direct links: a new chain icon in the upper right corner of every tool to display a direct link to the tool and a shortened URL.
- Assignments: peer assessment and group assignments.
- Test & Quizzes: new question types, improved precision on numeric answers, and a new accordion-style interface for quiz setup.
- Resources: supports drag-and-drop adding of files in all browsers.
- Syllabus: completely redesigned interface with edit in place, calendar integration, bulk update of syllabus items, accordion view of content table.
- Gradebook: added support for extra credit items.
- My Workspace: Preferences makes tab customizations easier with drag-and-drop and keyboard shortcuts.
- Lessons: improved and easy content sequence.
Assignments
- Hide due date: makes the due date for an assignment hidden from students via selecting a new option, Hide due date from students. This is especially helpful in cases where there is no due date for an assignment.
- Group assignments: allow any member of a group to submit on behalf of the entire group. Instructors assign one grade to the group and it gets applied to all members.
- Comments displayed in the Gradebook: Grader's comments are sent directly to the item in the gradebook when grades are released.
- Peer assessment: enables students to assess the work of their classmates. Note: Peer assessments must be graded in points; group assignments are not allowed; the Evaluation Period for peer review begins after the Accept Until time passes; Instructors must approve final grades after the Evaluation Period ends. Click here for UNC's peer review tutorial.
- Download all: significant improvement over the original Download All file structure, which includes new options, Student submission text (original student submitted text, possibly containing instructor added comments), Student submission attachment(s), and Feedback text (the inline comments with student submission).
Assignments 2
